BareSkin - Infinite Reflections
Released November 29th 201218 year old producer / dj from Winchester, UK, Josh Thompson aka BareSkin has graced us with two slices of deep tech house influenced bass music. Recently signed to Hypercolour and Losing Suki and playing alongside UK heavyweights Groove Armada, Scuba, Jackmaster, Blawan and Maya Jane Coles, Josh is turning the heads of his peers and the industry alike.
We asked Josh a few questions for our friends and fans and to get to know him better and this is what he has to say:
HNH Q 1. Where were you born?
A. High Wycombe
HNH Q 2. What was the very first vinyl record you bought and from where?
A. Street Halo from HMV on Oxford Street
HNH Q 3. What would be your ultimate dream gig?
A. hmm thats a hard one, not really sure... i'd like to see pink floyd in their prime quite a lot
HNH Q 4. Do you have a routine for making music?
A. i dunno, not really i dont think, i mean theres some things i do same every time but thats just coz its the only way it can be done so i wouldn't really call that a routine. I just kinda play around and see what happens
HNH Q 5. What is your favorite musical instrument and why?
A. haha this is another hard one, i like lots of different instruments equally for lots of different reasons, however i would probably say guitars and synthesizers are the coolest ones ;)
HNH Q 6. Any shout outs, upcoming releases, tour dates?
HNH Q 6. Any shout outs, upcoming releases, tour dates?
A. I'll try give another shout out to TOM WICKENS coz the last interview i did got edited and that taken out it seems haha, as for dates I've got quite a busy november/december it seems so keep an eye out!
-The title track 'Infinite Reflections' has a heavy 4 on the floor feel to it and is laced with sultry vocal edits, dreamy atmospherics and synths backed by a deep and driving bassline.
-As the second track's name 'Inertia' implies a state of inactivity, it's really quite the opposite here. It starts off with a 4 on the floor kick then moves into strange and eerie atmospherics, giving rise to haunted synths that climb into mysterious harmonized vocal effects.
