Nathan Ifergan aka Melja is the 20 year old producer / dj behind our 34th release the 'Dub Letters' EP which features 4 tracks of deep, dark and dubby tech-house and is already garnering support from the likes of Foamo, HxdB, Mark Starr and Kid Hops of KEXP to name a few.
As a boy Melja grew up listening to various types of hip hop and Jazz music before picking up piano lessons at the tender age of 12. His passion for music would develop over the coming years until he refined his sound that defined and readied him for his first EP which was released on the forward thinking label that is Carcrashet Records. After that release launched him into the spotlight, his second one would come out on Beatcave Records shortly there after. As a big fan of Techno music, especially Uk influenced Techno, his sounds keep evolving within House, Ambient and Electronica influences so Watch this space!
Below is a bonus FREE DOWNLOAD in support of the 'Dub Letters' EP called 'Fortune'.
We had a chance to ask him a few questions for you all to get to know him a bit better and this is what he has to say.
1. Q. Where were you born?
A. I was born in Paris, France.
2. Q. When did you first start listening to electronic and dance music?
A. I started listening to electronic and dance music when I was 15 when I discovered the post-dubstep movement, especially music that came from UK.
3. Q. What other types of music influence your productions?
A. I would say every type of music that I always bee influenced by hip hop and jazz.
4. Q. When are you completely satisfied with your music?
A. I try to push production to the maximum and it keeps evolving, so i'm completely satisfied when I feel that I am making something really new from myself.
5. Q. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
A. I love clubbing, and Dj'ing really. The only moment i'm feeling really good is when I play music. Going to nightclubs and discovering new atmospheres and music is also very important for me. I also love food, so when I'm free, I go to some original restaurants and bars in Paris.
6. Q. If you hadn't been born in this century, when and where would you
like to have lived and why?
like to have lived and why?
A. I would loved to have lived in the 1970's because mainstream music was Disco, not shitty pop music like nowadays.
